Miami-Dade County Public Schools, one of the nation’s largest districts, is facing a new challenge: declining enrollment. Today, more than 10,000 seats sit empty, forcing schools to compete for students in order to sustain funding and programs.
To address this, Partnership for Miami created Seats of Opportunity, embedding recruitment and marketing experts into top-performing schools. These professionals help principals design and run campaigns that showcase each school’s strengths, highlight academic excellence, and connect with families more effectively.
The impact is significant. In Florida, school funding is directly tied to student enrollment—more students mean more resources for classrooms, teachers, and extracurriculars. Yet principals, already managing demanding academic and operational responsibilities, rarely have the bandwidth to market their schools. This campaign fills that gap with expertise and dedicated support.
The campaign also tackles an equity challenge: while Miami is an A-rated district, access to top-performing schools is too often shaped by geography and lack of information. Many parents don’t know that seats in high-achieving schools are available to them. By providing families with clear, accessible options, Seats of Opportunity ensures that more children benefit from the best Miami-Dade has to offer.
